Jake Bugg
This northern Hip folk bluesy rock singer on the scene with a velvet vintage sounding voice, that for once is the real deal. No gimmicks, no facade just great sounding music. defiantly one to watch in 2013. Drawing attention from some of music most experience ears such as Zane Lowe, and Noel Gallagar all showing interest in this just 18 year old younge man from Nottingham.Jake first came to my attention earlier this year when I read about him in NME. He's already toured with the likes of Lana Del Rey and Michael Kiwanuka. He was first really notice on the BBC introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2011 and was signed earlier this year to Mercury Records.
He has one of the most genuine and real voices I've herd in a while. He's not trying to sound like anyone which I feel in this day an age is the biggest problem with music. The industry and the media is so quick to compare people to other artist before they've even really formed their own image. This leads to artist themselves being corrupted by trying to be like other people they admire and find cool. The constant desire to be as 'cool' as the previous generation or as the golden era of music (the 60s and 70s) leads to boring repetitive music that everyone has herd before that often comes off try-hard or overly pretentious. When everyone stops being so preoccupied with being cool and just starts writing music to write it, music will be great again. I think that's exactly what Jake is doing. Lyrically his songs are simple and short, and in some ways repetitive but you don't notice because they are great songs, sung beautifully with interesting strum patterns on his acoustic guitar. His smooth and soulful voice with that northern twang that works so well goes through you in the most beautiful way and makes you feel every word he's singing. He's the real deal. The End.
Watch out for his album release next month October 15th 2012, and download his singles now:http://itunes.apple.com/gb/artist/jake-bugg/id445598869
