Lena Dunham
Urhh she's cool, she's clever, She's not a size 0 and just happens to be the writer, producer, and actor in Both Tiny Furniture (her independent film circa 2010) and in HBO's hit series GIRLS. Being described everywhere as the young girls 'Sex and the City' - these critics are WRONG. Instead its a witty portrayal of four 20-somthing post college New Yorker's, in particular Hannah who's having a quarter life crisis after her steady income is taken away by her parents. As her life of the 'struggling writer' falls apart we follow the 'Girls' dealing with spontanious wharehouse parties, boyfriends who pee on them, and accidentally taking crack.
The show well and truly encapsulates a generation of overly obnoxious, satirical young people. But its done with a very unpretentious air that just tells it how it is, without trying to seem glamourous, cool or try to hard. This quality is what makes the show such a hit. The awkwardness, and the truth within the dialogue reminiscent of Juno or any Kat Dennings movie hits you between the eyes and really, and trully makes you laugh.
There's a girl in the show for everyone, the spontanious beauty, the awkward funny one, the organised classic beauty and the small town Virgin. YOU decide who you are, and Watch it.
